About
Founded in 1994 as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization by conductor and educator Urs Leonhardt Steiner, SF Sinfonietta has provided over 12 years of high quality musical performances and dynamic music education programs to communities in San Francisco and abroad. These highly successful programs have earned the organization a national and international reputation with current programs in California, Central America and Europe. A key vision of Maestro Steiner is to increase audience development and provide access to classical music at the community level. SF Sinfonietta achieves this through implementing music programs through an innovative ensemble orchestra and choral group, providing works ranging from classical to contemporary compositions. The orchestra has recorded over a dozen CDs, produced film scores and has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Central America. Collaborations and partnerships include the San Francisco Community Music Center, San Francisco Choral Society, The Oaxaca Symphony Orchestra, the Orquestra Nacional de Nicaragua, the Golden Gate Opera and most recently Musik Theater Chur, Switzerland.
